I have made many modifications
to my 330Cic to add to its performance and value. A guiding philosophy of
preserving the elegant, sophisticated appearance and the feeling of a BMW has
been the basis by which I judge the suitability of any change to the car –
no infantile wings here! On
the other hand, developing superior street performance is a primary goal. This is evident in
the collection of mods that have been selected. The over-arching objective here
is to produce a vehicle with equal or superior performance to an M3, surpassing
in some respects, without compromising the every-day drivability of the
car.
Why not just buy an M3? Some say it would be cheaper!
Possibly,
but not nearly as fun. This car is a hobby for me, so investing in these mods is not an issue from a financial standpoint. If I had bought an M3, I
would have made many of the same mods, resulting in a final vehicle that
is roughly equivalent to what I'm creating from my 330Cic platform – at
higher cost! So, in a very real sense, I'm saving money with this
approach. Of course, once a variety of forced induction systems are
available and broken in with some time on the market, I'll be thinking
about selling off the pumped up 330Cic and moving on to transforming an M3
to over 400hp. But that's in the future...
Buttons at the left list the mods I've performed,
have parts for and will be installing shortly, or will be performing in
the future when budget allows. Some have detailed DIY instructions (e.g.
Steering Trim), while others are a treatise on the particulars of the mod
and installation notes I've put together to help with the gotchas. I'm
very interested in any feedback you have regarding my site and the content
on it, as well as any errors you find. Please take a moment to send me
feedback if you like by clicking the contact link at the bottom of the
